Volunteer With Gateway Pet Guardians

Gateway Pet Guardians has loads of %St. Louis Animal Shelter %animal rescueopportunities to volunteer and we always appreciate the help! Aside from general day-to-day animal shelter and rescue operations, we have several long-term and short-term volunteer opportunities available. Take a look at just a few of the ways you can get involved in our rescue organization. For a list of  specific long-term volunteer positions that are currently available, please visit our blog. For all other general volunteer opportunities, read below.

Adoption Events

We always need an extra pair of hands at our adoption events to handle the adoptable dogs and cats. Please check our Calendar for the date and time of an Adoption Event near you and let us know if you are able to volunteer.

Fundraising Committee

Every non-profit needs a Fundraising Team. Gateway Pet Guardians relies entirely on donations and fundraising events to make our rescue operation a success. The Fundraising Committee comes up with ideas for events to meet our fundraising goals and gets to work making them happen! Whether you’d rather brainstorm or just volunteer to run errands, we’re always looking for people to help make our events a success.

Animal Transportation

We’re always needing dogs to go from one place to another around St. Louis. If you have a vehicle, live in St. Louis or the surrounding area, and would like to volunteer your transportation services to help us get dogs and cats to the vet, kennels, foster homes, fundraisers, and adoption events please contact us at info@gatewaypets.com.

Grant Writing

Grants are available for non-profits through large and small companies alike, and we apply for grants from business across the country, not just in St. Louis. These organizations require extensive applications and we are seeking a few experienced writers who want to volunteer their time and skills to fill them out!

Education Committee

We would like to start a volunteer program to travel around to schools and other community organizations to educate children about proper pet care as well as the importance of spaying and neutering. For specific information about the education program, click here.

Communications Committee

We need volunteers to help us get the word out! This committee of volunteers is responsible for distributing press releases, updating our media list, promoting Gateway Pet Guardians events and increasing general awareness among the St. Louis community.

Stray Guardians

We need volunteers who live and work in East St. Louis and the surrounding areas who want to become part of our feeding program, Stray Guardians.  We want to make sure that all of the strays are getting a good meal, so we are looking to expand our network.  If you live or work in the area and would like to feed, we will provide you with food.  Please contact us at info@gatewaypets.com.

If you are interested in any of the positions to the above, please fill out our volunteer application online and we’ll contact you regarding your fit with our organization. We put a lot of effort into what we do and rely on our volunteers to make what we do possible. We ask for a three- month commitment from each of our committee volunteers.
